艾纽曼（艾曼纽·德芙 Emmanuelle Devos 饰）是一位事业心和能力都非常强的职场精英，在法国一家新能源公司做高管。安西亚公司是巴黎人尽皆知的大企业，它的领导人身患重病时日无多，急需一位新的领导人接手。在这个节骨眼上，女权主义俱乐部的创始人安娜（卡洛·波桂 Carole Bouquet 饰）找到了艾纽曼，希望她能够参与这一职位的竞争，一旦艾纽曼当选，那她将会是第一个坐上这样一个重要位置的女性。
艾纽曼知道这是自己攀登权利高峰的不可多得的机会，但她很快就发现，她所要面对的，除了男尊女卑的陈词滥调之外，还有竞争对手的不断从中作梗。
