北京某医院眼科大夫陆文婷（潘虹 饰）因长期繁重的工作压力，突发心肌梗塞，生命垂危。把一最宝贵年华奉献给眼疾病人的陆文婷如今人到中年。虽已是眼科资深医师，但仍是工资只有几十块钱的住院医生，一家四口挤在12平米的房子里，生活拮据。家庭生活的担子落在丈夫傅家杰（达式常 饰）身上，自己则没时间照顾儿子园园（郑毅 饰）和女儿佳佳（曹雪 饰），以致佳佳发烧都不能及时抽身送她上医院。工作的压力和生活的重担压垮了她。就在她病倒的当天上午，她还连续给三个病人做了手术。闻讯赶到医院的傅家杰看着从昏迷中醒来的妻子，百感交集。四目相对，耳边盈盈响起匈牙利著名诗人裴多菲那不朽的名句......
