康德公爵（让?雷诺 Jean Reno饰）是12世纪的贵族，这天他前来城堡与公主订婚，却遭到奸人迫害。他的酒杯里被投下巫婆的毒药，让他喝下了迷魂药。神志不清中，康德杀死了公主，被抓入大牢。
仆人安德烈（克里斯汀?克拉维尔 Christian Clavier饰）去找巫师，让康德回到事件之前。但是，粗心的巫师却抓错了药，结果康德和安德烈去到了21世纪的芝加哥。他们遇上了康德的后人朱莉亚（克里斯蒂娜?艾伯盖特 Christina Applegate 饰），得知如果他们不及时回到12世纪，罗萨琳公主将无法复活，后人就会消失。但是安德烈却乐不思蜀了。他和一个女孩打得火热，并不大愿意回到12世纪。然而时间不等人，康德的归去越来越迫切，而安德烈却还在温柔乡里磨蹭。事情越来越棘手。
