解説1962年ピンク映画第１号といわれる小林悟監督『肉体の市場』が公開されてから2002年で日本のピンク映画は生誕40周年を迎えた。その社会的イメージとは裏腹に、ピンク映画界は数多くの優れた映画作家を輩出し、またピンク界最大手である日活ロマンポルノの誕生から衰退や、映画にとって最大の脅威であるアダルトビデオの普及を横目に見ながらも、たくましくも生き延び、現在も年間約90本もの新作を製作?公開している。日本映画の製作本数の約３分の１を占め、その歴史は、正に驚異的と言うほかない。この映画はそんなピンク映画の歴史と現在を築いてきたプロデューサー、監督、俳優、配給?興行関係者、そして新たにそこにチャレンジしてくる若い人たちの姿をインタビューを通して深く掘り下げ、彼らの「情熱と知恵」を探り、記録したものである。
