讲述一群失衡的单亲家长在彼此的帮忙下抚养孩子及寻找新爱情。
Taran Killam饰演单亲父亲Will Cooper，女儿是他的一切，不过他太着紧女儿令他不太像爷们﹑Leighton Meester饰演单亲母亲Angie，有个过份依恋她的儿子，坚强的她多年来一直勤奋工作维持生计﹑Brad Garrett饰演富有﹑退休的乡村俱乐部成员Douglas，他为人家长及对性别定位看法都很老派，而且认为大小问题都能用钱解决。
Kimrie Lewis饰演单亲母亲Poppy，有点嬉皮的她教导儿子要经常保持真我﹑Jake Choi饰演20岁的Miggy，他在妻子去了大学后独自养育儿子，这使他被弄得每晚都睡眠不足。
