马戏团主任艾蒙多（里卡多·蒙特尔班 Ricardo Montalban 饰）收留并保护了一只孤苦无依的猩猩，取名凯撒（罗迪·麦克道尔 Roddy McDowall 饰）。在艾蒙多无微不至的关怀下，凯撒渐渐长大，它和“父亲”艾蒙多之间的关系十分亲密。
