弗莱迪（史蒂夫·马丁 Steve Martin 饰）和劳伦斯（迈克尔·凯恩 Michael Caine 饰）是两个在“江湖”上漂泊了多年的花花公子，他们的目标是寂寞多金的单身女子，靠欺骗她们的感情从中获利。从某种意义上来说，弗莱迪和劳伦斯也算是老同行了，因此，他们之间的明争暗斗也从未停息。 一个名叫珍妮特（格伦妮·海德利 Glenne Headly 饰）的姑娘出现在了两个爱情骗子的面前，她的漂亮和性感很快吸引了两人的注意。以珍妮特为目标，弗莱迪和劳伦斯打了一个赌，谁先获取了珍妮特的芳心，谁就是当之无愧的女性杀手，两人随即展开了行动。然而，令两人万万没有想到的是，在这场游戏中，事态的发展逐渐脱离了他们的掌控。
